Planning Board

The Henderson Planning Board (Board) is a key Board established pursuant to NC General Statutes 160A-361 and Section 26 of the Henderson City Code.  Its purpose is to help in the development of policy recommendations to the City Council on matters involving land use, zoning and subdivision regulations and other related land development controls and concerns that may occur within the city limits and its extraterritorial jurisdiction.  Public hearings are frequently used by the Board to receive citizen input.

Meeting Schedule and Location:  The Board meets regularly on the third Monday of each month at 3:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 134 Rose Avenue, in downtown Henderson.  The public is cordially invited to attend.

Annual Budget:  The Board does not receive an annual allocation; however, staff support is funded via the budget for the Department of Planning and Community Development.

Membership and Terms of Appointment:  The Planning Board is comprised of ten (10) members.  Five (5) members are appointed by the City Council and five (5) members are appointed by the Vance County Board of Commissioners.  City appointees much reside within the City limits.   Appointments are for a three-year staggered term.
