Economic Development Commission

The Henderson-Vance County Economic Development Commission (EDC) was formed via an inter-local agreement between the City of Henderson and Vance County on 24 June 2009.  The duties of the EDC include, but are not limited to the following:  1) to maintain an adequate database that assists decision makers in matters of economic development; 2) prepare and amend as necessary a comprehensive plan for the physical development of the city and county;  3) to market the region and recruit economic development prospects; 4) to assist in the creation of new and retention of existing jobs by working with existing businesses as well as seeking new businesses to locate here, etc.  The EDC maintains a website at the following address: Henderson-Vance EDC Website

Meeting Schedule and Location:  The EDC meets regularly on the second Wednesday of each month at 8:30 a.m., in the conference room at Maria Parham Hospital.  The public is cordially invited to attend.

Membership and Terms of Appointment:  The EDC is comprised of nine (9) voting members and two (2) non-voting ex-officio members.  The City appoints three (3) members.   One (1) appointment is a city council member and two (2) appointments are for citizens at-large.  The County appoints the remaining six (6) members.
